Our 3 year old mare gathers steers for the first time…

Helping our good friends gather 375 steers covering 7,000 acres in Central New Mexico was a blast this month.  We spent two days moving the steers from two pastures into corrals, sorting, weighing and then loading them in the trucks on the third day.  This was Ginger’s first encounter with cattle and she not only covered the wide open and sometimes rough country without a problem, she tracked the steers and helped bring them into the pens.  We raised Ginger from a weanling, started her in August 2009 and last fall introduced her to trail riding in the Colorado Rockies, including a moonlight ride with a group of 20+ horses this summer.
